Two director generals fired after jade probe
A three-month investigation into dodgy dealings in the murky jade industry has netted dozens of government officials, with two director generals dismissed from their posts earlier this week.
The President’s Office on 3 March confirmed that the director generals from two Union government ministries, as well as lower-ranking staff from a range of ministries, had been fired following the probe.
The President’s Office had previously said the investigation was examining the Kachin State chief minister and two members of his cabinet, but they appear to have escaped reprimand. A state government secretary has been dismissed, however, sources told The Myanmar Times on 3 March.
